Weather example: Create trends and analyze data

Use PI visualization tools to plot or trend historical and future PI point data. Then use asset analytics (included in PI Server) to assist in your analysis of the collected, predicted, or computed data.

  1. In AVEVA PI Vision, create a trend for the Current Temperature and Predicted Temperature for a single location.

Select your start and end time to be relative to current time. The "now" line remains visible if you have chosen a relative time range that straddles current time, such as *-2h to *+2h.

Trend cursors set for a future time show values for future PI points, but historical PI points show No data.

  2. You can use values from future PI points as inputs for your analyses.

For example, you can calculate the difference between Predicted Temperature and Current Temperature and write it to an output attribute called DeltaTemperature, and trend the DeltaTemperature values to see how closely your prediction matches actual recorded values.

You may also trigger an event based on DeltaTemperature reaching a particular value.
