Data Archive Administration

Disable all explicit Data Archive logins

A good security practice is to disable explicit Data Archive logins. On new Data Archive installations, explicit logins are disabled by default. When you upgrade Data Archive, you are prompted to disable explicit logins, but you are not required to do so. After you configure mappings to replace PI user logins, you should plan to disable explicit logins altogether. Before doing this, make sure that the explicit logins are no longer needed.

  1. In PI SMT, select a server under Collectives and Servers. You can change settings for only one Data Archive at a time.

  2. Open the Security Settings tool (Security > Security Settings). The Security Settings tool appears (only for Data Archive servers running version 3.4.380 or later).

  3. Choose the Explicit login not allowed option.

  4. To apply the changes, stop and then restart PI Base Subsystem.
