Require passwords on all user accounts

Data Archive user passwords provide a minimal level of security for Data Archive. If you are going to use individual PI user accounts to manage Data Archive, at least require that the user accounts be protected by passwords (PI user accounts that do not have passwords cannot authenticate on Data Archive).

1. In PI SMT, select a server under Collectives and Servers. You can change settings for only one Data Archive at a time.

2. Open the Security Settings tool (Security > Security Settings.) The Security Settings tool appears (only for Data Archive version 3.4.380 or later).

3. Choose the Blank password not allowed option.

4. Stop and then restart PI Base Subsystem to apply the changes.
