Isolate a Data Archive server from incoming process data

Isolate a Data Archive server from incoming process data

  • Last UpdatedMar 07, 2025
  • 1 minute read

Isolate the primary Data Archive server from all incoming process data, from client applications such as AVEVA PI Vision and from other members of the collective.

During upgrade, users and applications fail over to another member of the collective. (These isolation methods have no effect on communication between Data Archive and PI AF server.)

To isolate a Data Archive server:

  • Use a Windows firewall or other commercial firewall to block port 5450.

  • Set up a Data Archive firewall with the Firewall tool in the PI System Management Tools (PI SMT).
