For Data Archive to recognize a file as an archive file, you must register the file. After an archive is registered, it is available to the system and participates in shifts and storage and retrieval of event data.

  1. Select Start > PI System Management Tools > Operation > Archives.

    The Archives tool lists all the archives registered on the selected server.

  2. Right-click an archive file from the target Data Archive server and select Register Archive.

  3. Browse to the archive file you want and click Open.
