Backfill existing archives from new PI points

  1. Add the new points to the existing archive. Use PI Builder to batch load points or use the PI SMT Point Builder tool to create individual points.

  2. If the points correspond to active interfaces, make sure that current data is not being sent to the point from the interface.

  3. Use the PI SMT PI Archive Manager tool or the piartool -al command to check your existing archive files. Note the start time, end time, and filename (including the path) of all archives within the time range of the backfill data.

  4. Back up your Data Archive server including all archives that you plan to backfill.

  5. Data is compressed by default. If you do not want compression, enable the Snapshot_DoNotReplacePTCreatedOnOOO tuning parameter.

  6. Backfill the data.

Note: For more information on backfilling data, see Backfill data with a piconfig script.
