Unified Supply Chain Process Model Manager

Create refinery topologies

When generating Base + Delta models you must define the topology of the units being modelled.

The flowsheet unit being modelled may have a feed unit which supplies it with the relevant fraction of crude. This may be a crude distillation unit or another process unit. Crude distillation trains are not required in a flowsheet and are only used to generate suitable feeds for downstream units. For example, when modelling a reformer it may be necessary to include a crude distillation train to create the naphtha feed used by the reformer model.

The Topology > Schematic page defines the flowsheet units in a generator case and how they are connected. The topology is created using the drawing interface by dragging and dropping the required flowsheet units from the Toolbox pane onto the drawing canvas.

To add a flowsheet unit to the topology:

  1. Click the required flowsheet unit in the canvas toolbox.

  2. Drag the unit onto the drawing canvas.

  3. Release the mouse to place the unit.

  4. Configure the unit's settings.
