Configure units

Each flowsheet unit has several settings which can be edited using the Flowsheet Unit Properties panel:

• Name - the name of the flowsheet unit in the topology

• Model - the fractionation model used to calculate the separation

• Inputs - the number of input streams to the flowsheet unit.

• Outputs - the number of output streams from the flowsheet unit.

Two fractionation models are available in Process Model Manager Reference Manual. The model in use can be selected from the Model list. Setting the model as None does not use a separation model for the cuts. Each cut is considered to be a perfect separation. Selecting ECP/SI as the separation model uses the standard fractionation calculations. In this the overlap between product streams is taken into account when working with stream properties.

Model Parameters

Some process unit models may require certain operational parameters. These are defined in the Model Parameters section of the Model Properties settings. The exact parameters required depend on the process unit model being used.

Where process unit models require model extra parameters to calculate the parameters may be split into a standard and expert group. Standard parameters are enough to run the process unit models using a standard set of conditions. If further control over the model is required these can be adjusted by shoing the expert set. To set the expert parameters change the Show Expert Parameters option to True. This will allow all the unit's parameters to be adjusted for more precise control of the model.
