Swing cuts

Define swing cuts for a fractionation unit in the Swing Cuts page:

  1. Choose the unit from the Flowsheet Unit list. This must be a fractionation unit on your flowsheet (Create refinery topologies).

  2. Define the cut as a swing cut by selecting the Swing? check box.

  3. Enter the standard ECP (effective cut point) for the cut.

  4. Enter the top and bottom stripping indices (SIs) for the cut.

  5. Enter a name for the swing cut.

  6. Define the minimum Start and maximum End temperatures to which the cut point can swing.

Warning: A swing cut must have values for all properties in both adjacent streams. For example, in an FCC model there may be a swing cut between FCC naphtha and FCC distillate. The FCC naphtha predicts aromatics content, while the FCC distillate predicts cetane index. The swing cut must predict both aromatics content and cetane index.
