To determine the properties of a swing cut, it is possible to use the properties of the cut calculated from the higher or from the lower stream. Swing cut biases are used to weight the result towards either end. The bias can take any value between 0 and 1. A bias of 0 weights the swing cut's property value towards the lower stream, whereas a bias of 1 weights the swing cut's property towards the higher stream.
Although the swing cut bias can be any value between 0 and 1, in practice the value is always either 0 or 1.
Warning: Only expert users should change swing cut biases, and the results must be carefully validated.
To set the swing cut bias for a particular property on a particular swing cut:
-
Got to the Swing Cuts > Factors page.
-
From the Flowsheet Unit list select the unit where the swing cut is found.
-
From the Swing Cut list select the swing cut you want to modify.
-
Enter the new swing cut bias for the appropriate property by typing the value next to the required property.
