The configuration steps for the PI System Ad-Hoc Trends widget and the PI System Custom Displays widget are the same, except that the PI System Custom Displays widget requires a few additional setup steps when creating the Feature Service. If you are configuring the PI System Custom Displays widget, see Configure PI Vision then return to the steps in this section to complete the configuration.

  1. In Operations Dashboard, select Widgets > Add Widget.

  2. Depending on the widget you want to use, choose either PI System Ad-Hoc Trends or PI System Custom Displays and click OK.

    A configuration window displays.

  3. In the Integrator field, enter the complete PI Integrator for Esri ArcGIS URL and click Connect.

The widget attempts to connect to the URL. When the Widget has connected successfully, the Service and Layer drop-down lists become active.

As an example, the URL should resemble the following:

    https://your_integrator_fqdn/configuration

  4. In the Service list, select the service that is associated with the map.

Ensure that you select the correct service that is associated with the map you working with.

  5. In the Layer list, select the layer that is associated with the map.

Ensure that you select the correct layer that is associated with the map you are working with.

  6. In the Map Widget Configuration section of the window, select the data source for the map.

If the map has several features, you must select the service and layer combination that you used to publish the Feature Service. The Data Source (or Data Sources) shown in the list correlates with the Feature Service (or Feature Services) you have previously selected for your map.

  7. In the Title field, enter the title that will be used as a caption when the AVEVA PI Vision widget displays.

  8. In the Start Time and End Time fields, enter valid PI times for the display start and end time.

For example, enter *-1h to specify that the start time should be one hour before the current time. Enter * in the End time field to indicate the current time. The time fields are validated by the AVEVA PI Vision server; if they are specified incorrectly, the time used is the AVEVA PI Vision default.

  9. Check Hide Time Bar if you want to hide the time bar on the AVEVA PI Vision display.

By default, the AVEVA PI Vision display that is used by the widget contains a time slider bar. The bar takes up screen space that you might prefer to use for your data. It is very easy to display or not display the time bar by using the configuration dialog.

  10. Check Quick Select if you want to enable feature select using the mouse.

With Quick Select enabled, the AVEVA PI Vision widget reloads automatically whenever you click a map feature with the mouse. If Quick Select is not enabled, you must right-click a map feature then select View in PI System ad-hoc trends to display the AVEVA PI Vision widget.

  11. Click OK.

Now, when you click on a map feature, the AVEVA PI Vision widget displays information about that feature.
