After creating the feature service, you can connect the service to the GeoEvent Server. The feature service that was created previously is selected automatically if it is defined in the selected data store.
-
In the GeoEvent Server field, select the appropriate GeoEvent Server from the list.
You can click the Manager button to open a new browser tab containing the ArcGIS GeoEvent Server Manager.
When you select a GeoEvent Server, the wizard automatically notifies you if the server is version 10.3 or later. ArcGIS GeoEvent Server version 10.3 uses token-based authentication. You are then notified which Portal for ArcGIS credential store will be used to authenticate.
-
Enter your User ID and password for the GeoEvent Server and click Validate credentials.
Note: If you are using Esri ArcGIS version 10.3 or later, you must log in using the same credentials you used when you logged into Portal for ArcGIS.
After your credentials are verified, the wizard connects to the GeoEvent Server and retrieves information about all configured ArcGIS servers. The GeoEvent Server that was selected is displayed. You can change to a different GeoEvent Server by clicking Click here to change your connection.
-
Select one of the following:
-
If you used the wizard to create your feature service, then after clicking Validate credentials, the wizard begins polling the GeoEvent Server to detect the newly created feature service in one of the GeoEvent Server's data stores, which can take a few minutes. You will be notified when the process is complete, after which you may proceed to the next step.
Note: Data stores are pointers to ArcGIS servers and ArcGIS Online accounts, and allow the GeoEvent Server to connect to ArcGIS and read contents such as feature services. The location (ArcGIS server or ArcGIS Online account) where the new feature service was just created must be registered as a data store in GeoEvent Server. The wizard will inform you if it is not registered.
Note: If you are publishing to ArcGIS Server, then the security identity used by the GeoEvent Server's data store for that server is important. The data store must have security access to the new feature service, and unless using the same account in the wizard and data store, this will not happen by default. If using different accounts, you must manually share the feature service with the account used by the data store.
-
If you created your feature service manually instead of using the wizard, you must input the following information when prompted:
-
In the Data Store field, select the data store that corresponds to the ArcGIS Server where you manually created your feature service.
-
In the Folder field, select the folder where you created your feature service.
-
In the Service field, select the feature service you manually created.
-
In the Service Layer field, select the layer that you manually created.
