Before beginning the steps in this topic, follow the steps below to obtain a URL you will need later.

  1. If necessary, launch PI Integrator for Esri ArcGIS.

  2. Navigate to the layer detail page of the layer you want to connect to GeoEvent Server.

  3. On the layer page, click the GeoEvent connections tab, and then click Test connection.

  4. Click the Generate Stream URL hyperlink.

  5. By default, the link shown is HTTPS. If you are using HTTP, you can edit the link to HTTP instead. When choosing the HTTPS URL, ensure that PI Integrator for Esri ArcGIS HTTPS certificate is trusted in this GeoEvent Server instance. See Configure certificates for more information.

  6. In the ArcGIS GeoEvent Manager Creating Input page, paste the URL into the text box labelled URL.

  7. Add the following to the end of the URL:

    &f=json

Follow the steps below to create the input stream.

  1. If necessary, log in to your ArcGIS GeoEvent Manager.

  2. Click the Inputs tab.

  3. On the Inputs screen, click Add Input.

    The Input Connectors screen displays.

  4. Locate the input name that you created earlier (called http-fjson-no-auth in our example) and click the Select button.

The Creating Input - Poll an external website for JSON screen displays.

You can use the Search Input Connectors field to search for the connector.

  5. In the Name field, enter a descriptive name for the input.

  6. In the Create GeoEvent Definition field, select No.

A dropdown list displays for the field named: GeoEvent Definition Name.

  7. Select the name of the GeoEvent definition that was created in the previous step.

If you have not previously created a GeoEvent definition, you should leave the default values for GeoEvent Definition Name and Create GeoEvent Definition.

  8. Paste the URL that you copied from the prerequisites section of this topic into the text box labelled URL.

  9. In the Parameters field, append: &id= followed by a unique GUID to the string you entered in step 6 of the prerequisites. The field should be formatted as follows:

    ?f=json&id=XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX

Replace XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX with a unique GUID. You can find an online GUID generator by searching for GUID generator.

If the Parameters field does not already contain a URL followed by ?f=json, then follow the prerequisites at the beginning of this topic and return to these steps.

  10. Click Save.
