What to do

Communication exception while getting attribute templates of template name

(Any message)

Info

An attempt by the Integrator to read attribute templates from the PI System has failed. The message should contain a secondary message that explains the reason for the failure.

(Any message)

The server did not provide a meaningful reply; this might be caused by a contract mismatch, a premature session shutdown or an internal server error.

Info

This message is caused by having an older version of the Integrator installed. Upgrade your Integrator.

Failed to retrieve templates from \\<your AF Server>\<your AF database>

None

Warning

This message is most likely caused by having an older version of the Integrator installed. Log into the Integrator server. Run the Services applet and verify that the PI Integrator for Esri ArcGIS 2017 SP1 service is running. If it is stopped then restart it. Otherwise, check the Integrator service log in the Integrator user interface or the log file located in %programdata%\OSIsoft\Integrators\Esri\Logs for other errors.

Invalid or empty token used to open stream service connection that requires a token, token used: <unique token string>

None

Error

A token must be embedded in the URL that the GeoEvent Server uses when querying PI Integrator for Esri ArcGIS. If the layer is published using the wizard, this will always be the case. If publishing manually, the URLs that are displayed in the API page do include the token. To fix this, verify that the HTTP URL to the layer matches the URL in the GeoEvent Server input, including the token. This can also be caused if a layer is deleted and then recreated but not republished. The solution is to re-publish the layer.

Stream connection faulted for <stream name> from <IP Address and ID>. Could not open the WebSocket: failed to initialize connection to the Data Relay.

Nobody is listening on the Service Bus.

Warning

The Integrator is inoperative or has become unresponsive. Ensure that the Integrator is running and that it has sufficient resources.

What to do

Error sending initial state: connection not open.

Error

PI Integrator for Esri ArcGIS terminated the connection before the Integrator could respond. The elements and initial state may have taken too long to load and thus caused an operation timeout. Reduce the size of your map layer, reduce the network latency between the Integrator and your PI System, or contact OSIsoft Technical Support.

Error while getting unique element:Template <your template> not found on database <your AF Database>

Error

The AF Element Template was renamed or was hidden by security. If the Template was renamed, you must re-create the map layers that reference it. If security is the problem, adjust the Element Template's security permissions so that the Integrator's Windows service identity has read permissions.

Server closed.

Error

This message occurs when the Integrator service is stopped (either manually or because of a Windows shutdown), or if some hard fault occurred (such as the loss of network connectivity). The Integrator should automatically go into a reconnect routine, periodically attempting to bring itself back online. No action is required if the network is available.

Failed to start or refresh stream <stream GUID> Failed to initialize stream because no attributes support the data pipe. At least one attribute must support the pipe to serve as an update trigger. A common example of attributes that support the data pipe are PI Point attributes.

Error

The Layer Configuration must include at least one data field which maps to an AF Attribute that supports streaming data (for example, an AF Attribute that exposes data from a PI Point). Modify the layer configuration to include such a data field.

Note: Each layer field corresponds to one AF Attribute.

Error while getting updates from a new session: One or more errors occurred.

Error

When you see this error message, it means that the data stream for a layer will not start. To verify, open the service and the layer, and click the GeoEvent Connections tab in PI Integrator for Esri ArcGIS; if you see several unsuccessful "Opening" connections, then this is the problem.

The most likely cause for this error is that the AF element template was modified after the layer was published, and the available AF attributes do not match the attributes that were defined in the layer configuration.

You should modify the layer configuration to remove or redefine any incorrect attribute mappings. In addition, you must re-publish the affected layer to Esri ArcGIS.
