View a time-enabled map

  • Last UpdatedMay 15, 2023

If you had previously selected Time-enabled Feature Layer when you created your layer, you can easily view the layer on a map. The map contains a time slider you can use to replay events. You can also select various time settings, such as playback speed, start and stop times, and so on.

After you have completed all of the steps to create a layer (by entering the data on Basic information, Data source, Fields, and Geometry screens) and the layer has successfully initialized, you can display your layer on a map immediately or view the item in ArcGIS.

  1. To display a map superimposed with your layer data, choose one of the following:

    • Select View item in ArcGIS Online then follow these steps:

      1. If prompted, sign in to your ArcGIS account.

The Item details page displays. See Esri information for help using this page.

      2. To view the map, click Open in Map Viewer.

      1. Select View in Map Viewer, then, if prompted, sign in to your ArcGIS account.

        The map displays.

    • See any of the following topics to customize your map.

    • If desired, click the Filter icon to specify features that match an expression you supply.

The Filter icon is shown here:

Note: You should query only on feature server fields, not AF fields.

For more information about applying filters, see Specify filter options. Also see Esri help topics here: ArcGIS Help.
