The following steps must be performed for each data stream.

Before you begin, navigate to the PI Integrator for Esri ArcGIS, go to the layer detail page of the layer you want to connect to GeoEvent Server, and click the Fields tab.

The table lists all the attribute names and data types for which you will need to create fields in the GeoEvent Definition. Make a note of these fields or start a separate browser window so that you can refer to the field names and data types in the following steps.

  1. If necessary, log in to your ArcGIS GeoEvent Manager.

  2. Click the Site tab.

  3. Click the GeoEvent Definitions menu item.

    The GeoEvent Definitions screen displays.

  4. Click the New GeoEvent Definition button.

  5. In the name field, enter a descriptive name for your GeoEvent definition and then click Create.

  6. For each field that you identified in the prerequisites, click the New Field button and perform the following steps:

    1. In the New Field screen, enter the Field Name and Type. Leave the cardinality of One as the default.

Note: Unless you are using Oracle (and have checked the box labeled: My organization uses ArcGIS Servers with Oracle based Enterprise GeoDatabase) you should specify all attribute names using lowercase letters. Use uppercase if you are using Oracle. Note also that ArcGIS field names cannot contain spaces (whereas AF attribute names can contain spaces). To see the attribute names as they exist in AF and to see how the names are formatted, navigate to the PI Integrator for Esri ArcGIS manager, go to the layer detail page of the appropriate layer, and click the Fields tab.

    2. For fields that identify a feature, the TRACK_ID field should be moved to the Added Tags section of the screen. The identity field is stored in PI Integrator for Esri ArcGIS as the Key field.

    3. Click Create.

  7. If geometry information is included in the data coming from PI Integrator for Esri ArcGIS, add a field named geometry, and specify its type as Geometry.
