The donut pie graphic is a versatile visualization tool that offers a fresh take on traditional pie charts. You can choose up to four interconnected donuts to build a clear comparison of multiple data sets, but with a clean and modern aesthetic. Its unique design enhances data visibility and enables insightful analysis. It's great for showing proportions, trends, or relationships in your data.

Examples

The following donut pie graphic has its NumberofItems property set to Four.

The following donut pie graphic has its NumberofItems property set to Two.

Configure the graphic

Configure the following properties for this graphic:

  • Follow asset context - The asset context affects properties that are configured to display asset stream ref data and asset metadata. When this is enabled:

  • Follow time context - When this is enabled:

    • If this content is in a visualization, it uses the visualization's time context as the time range for the data it displays. For details, see Create a new visualization.

    • If this content is in an experience, it uses the time selected in the time selector content item as the time range for the data it displays. For details, see Add a time selector.

  • Time - If Follow time context is disabled, select the time range for the data displayed in the content item.

  • In the Options section:

    • NumberOfItems - The number of data points to display.

    • Statistics - The retrieval mode for the graphic.

If Current is selected, configure the DataPoint property for each data point. If another option is selected, configure the DataPointReference, StartTime, and DataPointDuration properties for each data point.

See Understand retrieval mode for details.

    • Pie1-4Color - The color for each segment of the pie.

The number of color properties available is determined by the NumberOfItems.

    • ShowValues - How the data point values are displayed on the graphic.

This is available when ShowLegends is enabled.

    • ShowTitleAs - Enables the Title property in the Custom Properties section to set the graphic title and sets the font size.

Title is a larger font. Subtitle is a smaller font.

    • ShowTimeProperties - Enables the DataPointDuration property.

This option is not available when Statistics is Current or Simulation is enabled.

    • ShowLegends - Enables legends for the data points.

If enabled, set the Legend property in the Graphic Properties section.

    • ShowUOM - Enables unit of measure for the data point, if ShowValues is enabled.

Set the UOM for the data point in the Graphic Properties section.

    • ShowCard - Displays a colored background behind the chart.

    • Simulation - Allows simulation for values in the graphic.

If this is enabled, the Statistics and DataPoint properties are not available, and the SimMax, SimMin and SimPeriod custom properties are available.

  • In the Graphic Properties section:

    • DataPoint1-4 - The data point or value for each bar on the chart, starting from the center.

This is available when Statistics is Current and Simulation is disabled. The number of properties available is based on the NumberOfItems selected.

To select a data stream, select the field and then select the pencil icon. In the DataPoint window, select Streams. In the Search window, use the filters to find and then select the stream, asset stream reference, or asset metadata to display.

    • DataPointDuration - The period, in minutes, used when calculating statistics.

This is available when Statistics is not Current and ShowTimeProperties is enabled. This can't be zero, but it can be negative when a StartTime is specified.

    • DataPointReference1-4 - The data point or value for each bar on the chart, starting from the center.

This is available when Statistics is not Current and Simulation is disabled. The number of properties available is based on the NumberOfItems selected.

To select a data stream, select the field and then select the pencil icon. In the DataPointReference window, select Streams. In the Search window, use the filters to find and then select the stream, asset stream reference, or asset metadata to display.

Ensure the Data Binding Mode is Constant when configuring DataPointReference1-5 in combination with Statistics.

    • Decimals - The number of decimal places for the data point value, up to 2.

      Invalid values are discarded.

    • Legend1-4 - The legend text shown for each data point, up to 10 characters.

This is available when ShowLegends is enabled.

    • SimMax - The highest simulated value for the graphic, when Simulation is enabled.

Default is 100. This value must be greater than the SimMin value.

    • SimMin - The lowest simulated value for the graphic, when Simulation is enabled.

Default is 0. This value must be less than the SimMax value.

    • SimPeriod - The simulation refresh period, in seconds, from 1 to 60.

This is available when Simulation is enabled.

    • StartTime - The start time for use with statistics.

This is available when Statistics is not Current and ShowTimeProperties is enabled. If no value is specified, auto refresh is applied. The start and end times of the summary period are determined based on current time.

    • Title - The title text for the graphic.

This is only available when ShowTitleAs is Title or Subtitle.

    • UOM - The unit of measure text used in the legend, up to 5 characters.

This is available when ShowLabels and ShowUOM are enabled.

  • In the Advanced tab:

    • Title - The title displayed for this content item in the grid visualization.

This is not available in a canvas visualization or experience. Set this value in the Title property in the Graphic Properties section.
