To create a Naming Template, ensure that you have the Creator privilege and have the Standard locked for editing:
-
Right-click the Naming Template folder and select Add Naming Template.
-
Enter the required information:
-
Enter a unique identification for the Naming Template. This field supports alphanumeric characters, and does not auto-increment.
-
Enter a name for the identification in this optional field. If you do not input any data, ID is displayed instead of Name in the user interface.
-
Describe what the Naming Template contains.
-
-
To create the record and continue to create more records, click Add. Alternatively, click Add and Close. This brings you to the Details tab of that Naming Template.
-
In the Corresponding Identifiers section on the Details tab, enter a nomenclature map. You can enter more than one nomenclature map. For information, see Implementing Corresponding Identifiers.
-
Optionally, in the Properties Specific to Naming Template section, enter a Validation Regular Expression in its text field.
-
From the Applicable For dropdown, select what the regular expression will be used for. The options are:
-
Validation: Whether the template will be used for validation of a Class.
-
Allocation: Whether the template will be used for allocation.
-
Validation and Allocation: Whether the template will be used for both validation and allocation.
-
None
-
-
Optionally, enter a value in the Sort Order field. The application uses this value for sorting and listing of the Naming Templates.
-
Enter an Aspect if you have an enumerated list associated with the Naming Template. This enables you to select from a fixed set of possible values when creating records.
The Naming Template is now defined.
Note: To discontinue using a Naming Template, select the Obsolete check box in the General Properties section on the Details tab.
