Create Permissible Associations

An Attribute can be used to define an association between a Target Class or Classes and the Class that the attribute is associated to. If you are associating to multiple Classes, you are restricted to the same Class Concept, meaning that, you can have a single association to both a Document and a General Class. This type of an attribute is referred to as permissible association rather than as permissible attribute.
The association can only be defined in one direction. However, the reverse can be done using appropriate extensions, where required, such as in AVEVA Asset Information Management.
To create an attribute as a permissible association, first define a permissible attribute and then, use the following procedure:
-
In the Details tab, go to the Properties Specific to Attribute section.
-
In the Validation Type field, select Association.
-
The Validation Rule field is replaced with Association Type and Valid Target Class fields. In the Association Type field, enter the association condition, such as Fulfilled By.
-
The filter criteria can be toggled to show either only selected data or all values, which populates the corresponding descendants as well.
-
In the Target Class Field, search and select the target Class or Classes.
Note: You can select multiple Classes as long as they are from the same Concept.
-
Click Add and Close.
