Validation sets the rules for data coherence. AVEVA Information Standards Manager enables you to validate a Standard against the available validators. You can execute a validation from the Catalogue view. Validation action is only available when the Standard is locked for editing.
After validating a Standard, the items in Standard are annotated with wavy lines of different colours representing the severity of the issue. Items having multiple issues are annotated with a wavy line in the red colour. A validation summary with the three most severe issues is also displayed in the tooltip for the item. You can find the complete list of issues under Show Validation Issues in the context menu for the item.
Validation annotations are only visual and will NOT be stored as a part of the Standard. However, they may be exported into Microsoft Excel using AVEVA Standard ISM Format and selecting the Include Validation Issues check box.
The following items can be annotated:
-
Standard details
-
Standard collections
-
Entity tree
-
Entity tab
-
Entity details
-
Entity properties
-
Entity collections
The AVEVA ISM Naming and Numbering Rules and AVEVA ISM Policy Rules are available out of the box. The other validators need to have the appropriate plug-in
installed. To check for available validators, either select Validate or click the information and help (
) icon and switch to the About tab.
