Create and Define UoM Units

To create a UoM Unit, ensure that you have the Creator privilege and have the Standard locked for editing:

Right-click a parent folder and select Add Measure Unit.

Enter the required information:

Enter a unique identification for the UoM Unit. This supports alphanumeric characters. This field does not auto-increment.
Note: Whilst the application accepts white spaces and special characters, it is not recommended to use them.

Enter a name for the identification in this optional field. If left blank, it shows the ID as the name. This field accepts alphanumeric characters.

Describe the purpose of the Unit.

To create the record and continue to create more records, click Add. Alternatively, click Add and Close. This brings you to the Details tab of that UoM Unit.

In the Corresponding Identifiers section on the Details tab, enter a nomenclature map. You can enter more than one nomenclature map. For information, see Implementing Corresponding Identifiers.

In the Properties Specific to Measure Unit section, enter the Symbol for the UoM Unit.

Enter a value for the UoM Unit in the Standard field. This is a standard in a way that maps to the international standards for measurement and quantification.

From the System dropdown, select the measuring system.

Select a Group. This groups similar Unit of Measure Units, such as length. The groups are displayed within the Measure Units tree structure.

Enter a value in the Sort Order field. This value represents the order in which all Unit of Measure Classes will be listed in the group folder in the tree view.

Enter an Aspect if it is implemented on the UoM Unit. For information on Aspect, see Understanding Aspects.
The UoM Unit is now defined.
Note: To discontinue using a UoM Unit, select the Obsolete check box in the General Properties section on the Details tab.
