Abstract |
An Abstract class is the base definition for more specialized classes. For example, Instrument Equipment is an abstract and a parent class for Alarm Panel. In an authoring or managing tool, they would have instantiated objects. |

Aspect |
A semantic categorization that can be used to create rules that help process and populate similar or linked values. |
|
Class Concept |
Identifies the purpose of a Class type:

Class Library |
A collection of Standards constituting a holistic definition of Classes, Attributes and related information. |
|
Composition |
A collection of independent Standards that make up a Class Library. |
|
Concept |
Identifies whether an object is permissible on a specific Class Concept. An attribute can relate to, or may be permissible on, a Functional Class as well as a Physical Class. |

Derived |
The entity or value is inherited from a parent in the entity hierarchy. |
|
Discipline |
A specialized team, which has the responsibility for the identified item. Different teams may have responsibility for the item over its life cycle. |

Entity |
Any item in the Standard that can have an identifier designated. For example, Functional Classes, Physical Classes, Document Classes, Attributes, Enumerated Lists and UoM Unit. |

Extends/Extension |
Additional user-defined metadata on an entity. |
|
Hierarchy |
A structured order of information and properties in a system where the allocated properties are inherited by its child items. |
|
Language |
Help us to define and identify the same item in different languages used on a Project or Asset. For example, English and Norwegian. |
|
Namespace |
A shareable class of unique elements. For example, a set of symbols or file types. |
|
Nodes |
A point within a structured order of information. |
|
Nomenclature |
AVEVA Information Standards Manager uses standard terminology. However, the use of terminology could differ based on standards. It helps map the terminologies use across different standards. For example, CFIHOS and ISO. |

Permissible |
An entity being associated with another entity. |
|
Standard |
A defined procedure or level of work mandated by project company or standards body. |
