Modify an installation: PCS errors

This section describes a workaround/fix that can be applied if the following error occurs during a Modify installation of System Platform 2023 R2 SP1 (with or without patches) after installing System Platform 2023 R2 SP1 Patch 03.

Error: A newer version of Platform Common Services is already installed.

Workaround

1. Open the Control Panel, select Programs and Features, then select AVEVA Platform Common Services.

2. Select Change.

3. On the Setup dialog that appears, select Next.

4. On the Change, repair, or remove installation dialog, select Change.

5. Select the PCS Service Repository feature. Select Entire feature will be installed on the local hard drive from the dropdown.

6. Select Next, then on the next dialog, select Change.

7. When the setup is done, select Finish.

Once you complete the workaround steps, you can add the new System Platform component/feature without encountering an error by running setup.exe from the System Platform 2023 R2 SP1 installation media (not the patch).
