Manually stop a System Platform process that blocks the Patch Manager

During installation, you may be prompted to manually shut down some processes from either the Operations Control Management Console (OCMC) or the Windows Control Panel. See the procedures below for how to stop processes.

To stop processes from the OCMC

  1. Select Platform Manager from the OCMC.

  2. Select the deployed galaxy from the navigation (left) pane.

  3. Select the platform in the main (right) pane.

  4. To stop the platform, either select the Stop Platform button in the ribbon bar or right-click the platform name and select Stop Platform from the context menu.

    When prompted, select OK to take the platform off-scan.

  5. Once there are no more prompts to stop blocking processes, close the OCMC .

To stop a process (service) from the Windows Control Panel

You may be prompted to shut down some processes from the Windows Control Panel. To shut down a process (service) from the Control Panel:

  1. Select Administrative Tools from the Control Panel.

  2. Select Services from the list in the right pane.

  3. Select the service name and right-click to display the context menu.

  4. Select Properties from the context menu.

  5. Stop the service and select OK.

  6. Close the Services window after you have stopped the blocking processes.
