Connect to and run a pre-scheduled Instructor-led OTS training session with multiple Trainees

After a pre-scheduled Instructor-led Operator Training Simulator (OTS) training session reaches its scheduled start time and its status displays running in the Training Schedule page (also known as the Instructor lobby), you can then connect to that session to run it.

Important: If your Personal Instructor (PIW) status is not available or not applicable to the OTS session, any changes that you make in the session do not save. See Understand the Personal Instructor Workspace for more information.

Start a pre-scheduled OTS session

1. In the Training schedule page, from the session's entry, select Open simulation in new tab.

   The session opens in a new tab on your browser.

   

2. In the session, after the current status displays RUNNING, select Click here to view your session.

   The session opens in your browser under a new tab.

   After the session starts, you cannot edit the session's assigned nodes, applinks, and scheduled start times in the Training schedule page.

   

   After the session is running in your browser, in the Training schedule page, the session updates with the following:

   • The session's status changes to scenario started.

   • All of the session applinks and nodes appear and are shaded blue.

     

When the session's status displays scenario started, all of its applinks and nodes are grouped in the Training schedule page as follows:

• Unassigned applinks and nodes are grouped under the Unassigned heading.

• Applinks and nodes assigned to Trainees by the Instructor during scheduling are grouped above the Unassigned heading.

After a Trainee connects to a session applink, in the Training schedule page, their username appears under the applink name and is visible to you and other Trainees that are assigned to the session.

Connect to a pre-scheduled OTS session

3. In the Training schedule page, select the Instructor Station applink.

   You are connected and running the session through the Instructor Station applink and it opens under a new browser tab. You can observe the Trainees interacting with the session.

4. (Optional) In the Training schedule page, select an available Trainee-specific applink to connect and run the session under a new browser tab.

   You may want to do this if you want to connect to the session in a non-Instructor role. For example, you want to connect to the session as a field operator.

   In the Training schedule page, your username appears under the applink name. Trainees cannot connect to that applink, as it is shaded grey and un-selectable.

   

   In the following figure, the Trainee is connected to their assigned Operator Station 1 - HMI1 applink, and the Instructor is connected to Operator Station 2 - HMI2.

   

5. (Optional) Select the applink that a Trainee is currently connected to if you want to directly interact with it.

   If the activity supports direct interaction from an Instructor, the applink is shaded white and selectable while a Trainee is connected to it. See Interact with a Trainee's active Operator Training Simulator training session for more information.
