Common AVEVA Unified Learning billing questions

Am I charged just by logging into the platform?

No. You are charged when accessing an application within the platform.

An application is defined as:

• Process Competency Training (E-Learning content or Operator Training Simulator [OTS] training)

• Operations Excellence Group (OEG) Knowledge Library content

• AVEVA OTS session

• AVEVA Extended Reality (XR) for Training session

• Pipeline Competency Training (PCT) — E-Learning content or OTS training

  Note: The Pipeline Competency Training OTS sessions are billed exactly like all other AVEVA OTS sessions.

How is my consumption tracked and billed?

For all applications, consumption is tracked on an hourly basis and deducted from the total number of credits available in the account.

What is the minimum unit for billing and tracking? For example, if I complete a 20 minute AVEVA OTS exercise and then open a second exercise and spend 10 minutes on it, am I charged 30 minutes or two hours?

• For E-Learning content and AVEVA OTS sessions — Minutes are the minimum unit. Therefore in the previous example, you would be charged 30 minutes.

• For AVEVA XR for Training sessions — Hours are the minimum unit. Therefore in the previous example, you would be charged two hours.

What happens if I open an E-Learning module, get pulled into another task at work, and leave my computer with the E-Learning module still open?

Your session is considered abandoned after 60 minutes from the start of the session, but you are only charged for 15 minutes.

What happens if I open an AVEVA XR for Training exercise, get pulled into another task at work, and leave my computer with the AVEVA XR for Training exercise still running?

Your session automatically disconnects after 15 minutes of inactivity. Your session is considered abandoned after 60 minutes from the start of the session. You are charged for one hour.

What happens if I open an AVEVA OTS exercise, get pulled into another task at work, and leave my computer with the AVEVA OTS exercise still running?

An AVEVA OTS exercise is never left running indefinitely. Depending on the configured completion mechanism, the exercise will do one of the following:

• End when the scenario is complete (automatic completion)

• End when the configured exercise time is expired (timed completion)

• End when the maximum timeout has expired (manual completion)

  Your session is considered abandoned after 12 hours, but you are only charged for 15 minutes.

Am I charged while my OTS session is opening and starting?

No. The billing for an OTS session begins when you select Click here to view your session on the session startup page.

What happens if my AVEVA XR for Training session is disconnected due to network issues?

You can reconnect to the same session if you reconnect within 15 minutes.

If I am an Instructor and connect to a Trainee session, am I charged as well?

No. You are billed for only one session.
