Trainees can visit an Operator Training Simulator (OTS) session in the course's Training schedule page to confirm their training schedule, but they can only connect to a pre-scheduled OTS session after an Instructor starts it. Contact the session's Instructors if you are unsure of the session's date and time.

Navigate to the pre-scheduled OTS in the Training schedule page

  1. In My learning, if the session link displays under Upcoming events, select the session link.

Select the session link under Upcoming events.

The course’s Training schedule page appears and displays the session's start time, assigned Instructors, and one of the following session statuses:

    • Not started — The session is far from the scheduled start time.

    • Starting — The session is near the scheduled start time.

The session status may take a few minutes to change from Starting after it reaches its scheduled start time.

    • Running — The session is running, but the Instructor owner has not started it.

    • Scenario started — The Instructor owner has started the session.

You can connect to the session when its status displays scenario started and the Instructor owner has started it. The Training schedule page then displays the available session applinks which are shaded blue.

      Check the session's status.

  2. If the session link is not available under Upcoming events, do the following:

    1. In Upcoming events, select the Schedule () icon.

      The Upcoming events page appears.

The session that is due to start next displays at the top of the list in the Upcoming events page.

Open the session through the Upcoming events page.

    2. Locate the session that you want to connect to, and then select Go to activity.

You can connect to the session when its status displays scenario started and the assigned Instructor owner has started it. The Training schedule page then displays the available session applinks which are shaded blue.

When the session's status displays scenario started, all of its applinks and nodes are grouped in the Training schedule page as follows:

  • Unassigned applinks and nodes are grouped under the Unassigned heading.

  • Applinks and nodes assigned to Trainees by the Instructor during scheduling are grouped above the Unassigned heading.

In the following figure, the Instructor has started the session and the Training schedule page displays unassigned and selectable applinks.

Check the session's status.

Connect to a pre-scheduled OTS training session

  • In the Training schedule page, from the session's entry, select an available session applink.

The session opens in a new tab on your browser and you can now interact with it.

In the Training schedule page, your username appears under the selected applink name to notify the Instructors and other Trainees assigned to the session that you are connected to it.

If an Instructor or another Trainee connects to an applink, the following results appear in the Training schedule page:

  • Their username appears under that applink name.

  • The applink is shaded grey.

  • You cannot connect to that applink.

If you need to connect to an Instructor's applink, contact that Instructor or they can then disconnect from the applink in their account.

Trainee and Instructor has connected to a session applink.

In the following figure, a Trainee has selected Operator Station 1 - HMI1 that was assigned to them during scheduling, and the Instructor has selected Operator Station 2 - HMI2 which is no longer available to the Trainees.

Trainee connected to assigned applink, and Instructor connected to a non-Instructor Station applink.

If an Instructor is observing your active OTS session, a Your session is being observed message displays in the session.
