Expectations and limitations as part of previous AVEVA Unified Learning releases
This section lists the previous expectations and limitations you may encounter with AVEVA Unified Learning, up to the latest release in 2025.
-
Data persistence:
-
For AVEVA Operator Training Simulator (OTS) data persistence, the single file size maximum is 100 MB.
-
AVEVA Extended Reality (XR) sessions have a maximum duration of four hours. The maximum duration for OTS activities varies depending on the type of exercise and how the delivery team has set them up.
-
For AVEVA Dynamic Simulation (DYNSIM) user accounts, any custom user accounts that you create do not persist beyond a session. The default and persistent user account is simsci.
-
If you are not seeing all of the content for your role in AVEVA Unified Learning (for example, you are an Instructor but cannot see Trainee grades), first sign out of your AVEVA Unified Learning account, and then sign back in. If you still think that you are not seeing the correct content, contact AVEVA Support.
-
-
From the Multiple OTS Human Machine Interface (HMI) applink, cloud sessions do not exist until you connect. After you connect, the applications (AVEVA InTouch HMI, FoxView, and DYNSIM) load, which results in a delay of a few seconds.
-
Currently, the region in which an OTS session is opened is chosen automatically, based on the lowest latency for the scheduling Instructor. For custom Foxboro systems, the region is fixed to the closest customer’s plant for all exercises. If Trainees are located in different regions from the Instructor, they may experience extra latency in the connection(s) to the OTS session.
-
For Administrators, when you add new users in the Add new users dialog, if you enter the same email address into the Instructors box and Trainees box, the system only enrolls that person as a Trainee.
-
If your browser is using a non-standard time zone format, then during Instructor-led OTS scheduling, the browser returns that format as a Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) by default. You must select the correct time zone in the dropdown list.
-
When you use multiple applinks on the AVEVA InTouch HMI 2020 R2 SP1 (version 20.1.100) application, the alarm acknowledgement between instances is not supported by default. You must implement a special configuration in the HMI application. Not all HMI applications support alarm acknowledgement synchronization.
-
For an Instructor-led training session that includes additional Instructors, if there is an exercise with a single applink to the Instructor station, then that applink must be shared with the additional Instructors.
-
When a user is added to a user group, a notification is sent to the Administrators and Instructors of that group, but not to the Trainees. Notifications are not sent to anyone when a user is removed from a user group.
-
If a Trainee is enrolled into the same course twice from two different curriculums, the same billing hours are displayed for those two curriculum records. This duplication occurs because there is currently not enough information to determine which curriculum the platform should be billing against. To avoid this situation, do not enroll a Trainee into the same course twice.
2025.3
New features and enhancements
-
Custom Instructor-Led OTS training session evaluations: Administrators can now customize the Instructor-led OTS training session evaluations to allow Instructors to enhance their Trainee assessment during instructor-led OTS training sessions. Administrators can customize the OTS training session evaluations as follows:
-
Make the default individual scoring evaluations available or unavailable in the Final scores page and the Activity report.
-
Import a custom set of scoring evaluations into the platform.
See Customize the Instructor-led OTS training session evaluations for more information.
-
-
Update a custom course's primary OTS: Administrators can now make changes to a custom course's primary OTS, which includes the Initial Conditions (ICs), Scenarios, Malfunctions, and Trainee Performance Monitoring (TPM) templates. The platform applies the changes to the custom course's free-practice, Instructor-led, and self-paced sessions and are made available to everyone instead of just for the session's owner.
See Update a custom course's primary Operator Training Simulator for more information.
-
Update an upcoming Instructor-led OTS training session as an Administrator: Administrators can now make the following changes to an upcoming Instructor-led OTS training session, which they may need to do if the session's owner cannot make the changes themselves:
-
Add or remove Instructors from an Instructor-led OTS training session. See Add or remove Instructors from an upcoming Instructor-led OTS training session for more information.
-
Delete an upcoming Instructor-led OTS training session. See Delete an upcoming Instructor-led OTS training session for more information.
-
Change an Instructor-led OTS training session's owner. See Transfer an Instructor-led OTS training session's ownership to another Instructor for more information.

Known issues
|
Issue ID |
Issue Description |
|---|---|
|
4070158 |
If an Instructor uses the Current role list in their AVEVA Unified Learning account to change their role to Trainee, the courses in which they are enrolled as an Instructor can incorrectly appear under the Non-curriculum Courses curriculum heading in their My learning dashboard. This issue will be resolved in a future release. |
|
4079308 |
In OTS training sessions, the screen displays the wrong resolution and the session is on an incorrect point in the screen. This issue will be resolved in a future release.Try the following workarounds as we work to resolve this issue. If you are using Google Chrome as your web browser
If you are using Microsoft Edge as your web browser
|
|
4353348 |
In the Import Fields page, if you upload a Custom Evaluation Fields .csv template that is not saved as the Comma delimited format, an error message appears and the import fails. This issue will be resolved in a future release. As a workaround, always save your .csv file as the Comma delimited format to prevent this issue. |
|
4355534 |
When you make changes to a primary OTS and then attempt to upload your saved changes with the Upload changes button, the platform may take an unusually long time to complete the upload process. Improvements to the process will be implemented in a future release. |
|
4355543 |
When you run a primary OTS session, you may see multiple instances of the Upload changes button appearing in the upper-left corner of the session banner. This issue will be resolved in a future release. To avoid unexpected results, only interact with one instance of the Upload changes button. |

New features and enhancements
-
AVEVA Documentation portal Help button: The Help (
) button in your AVEVA Unified Learning account's user menu now directs you to this AVEVA Unified Learning documentation that is hosted in the AVEVA Documentation portal. See Understand the AVEVA Unified Learning user menu for more information.
-
All scheduled Instructor-led OTS training session applinks available to Instructors: For Instructors, in a course's Training Schedule page, you can now access all available OTS training session applinks. This feature allows Instructors to observe a session from a non-Instructor Station applink. See the following sections for more information on how the applinks appear in the Training Schedule page for Trainees and Instructors:
-
Completion report: The Completion report is a new report that lists Trainee course records with their completion status and other relevant data. Trainees, Instructors, and Administrators can view the Completion report to ensure that there is compliance with the course completion goals. See View the Completion report for more information.
-
CONNECT Credit report resource code table: For Administrators, the AVEVA Unified Learning documentation now contains a CONNECT Credit report resource code table. This table lists the Operations Excellence Group (OEG) or a Pipeline Competency Training (PCT) course that is associated with an AVEVA Flex ID FLEX-OTS-142 resource code. See Understand the CONNECT Credit transaction report resource codes for more information on the resource codes.
-
Delete unfinalized scheduled sessions: For Instructors, in a course's Training schedule page you can now bulk-delete all sessions that were partially configured during scheduling. This option helps maintain a clean Training schedule page and reduces any clutter from unfinalized sessions. See Delete unfinalized scheduled sessions for more information on how to delete unfinalized sessions in a course's Training schedule page.

Change the AVEVA Unified Learning role: Administrators and Instructors can now use the Current role list on the AVEVA Unified Learning home page banner to change their role. After you change the role, the AVEVA Unified Learning account displays only the dashboards that are available to that selected role. Changing a role does not change the account that you signed into. See Change the AVEVA Unified Learning role for more information.
With the Current role list, we removed the Show all user groups option that was available to Administrators in their Instructor dashboard. If Administrators want to only see user groups where they are assigned as an Instructor, they can switch their role to an Instructor.

Curriculum update notifications to Trainees: Trainees now receive a notification in their AVEVA Unified Learning account and their email inbox when there is a change in their enrolled curriculums. Some examples of these curriculum changes include the following:
-
The user group to which the Trainee belongs to is enrolled into a new curriculum.
-
The Trainee is added to a user group that is currently enrolled into a curriculum.
-
