Part of Parts

Use the part of parts functionality to create new parts or to select existing parts using source elements on the parent tag’s datasheets.

Note:
This functionality is only available with TMR enabled projects and can only be used for the creation of CanHaveParts.

If the parts already exist, there will be no changes, all modification of attributes on these sub-tags have the same behaviour as existing datasheets. If a part does not exist, then entering data into any field for the sub-tag prompts for selection of an existing sub-tag, or the creation of a new part (for one level parts creation the Select/Create window is displayed, for multi-level creation, new tags are automatically created).

If the DB View is configured with multiple element types class picker is displayed and based on the user selection.

Select existing is supported only for one level parts creation, the reference browser is displayed, select the unassigned tag from reference browser and the associated attribute is updated in parent tag.

Parts are created by both normal editing of part attributes on a datasheet and also on datasheet import. Once the parts are created, the references of the owning object must be set to point to the new tag.

Notes
Part creation in datasheets trigger on edit mode when focusing out of a cell instead of keypress in a cell, or when enter is pressed after providing attribute value. The entered value in a cell is updated to db and reflected on the datasheet. This applies to all part attributes including both normal cell mappings and user controls.

Auto Parts

The auto parts functionality is available to the user by default, if the administrator has added the user to the roles functionality available in the configuration module. The user can override this at any time but will not be saved.

If the auto parts checkbox is selected, parts will be created without the need to populate the Select/Create window.

Notes:
If the Select /Create window is displayed the user can create a new part tag or select an existing tag. The prompt is shown when the parent tag exists or only for a single level. When there are multiple part items in the hierarchy the part creation are triggered silently. New part items are not created when there has been no valid value given in the attribute cell.

For user controls, normal cell selection will not trigger part creations.
