Create Drawing Type

Use the New Drawing Type window to create a new drawing type. The drawing type is used to store drawings in Engineer.

Name
Type a unique name for the drawing type.
If the name is not unique, an error message displays summarizing the problem.

Automation Type
Use the drop down list to define the drawing type content.

Manual (No Automation) |
Specifies a manually produced drawing. For example, a single line diagram. |
|
Insertion Template |
Specifies the use of an automatic template currently used for hookup drawings. The drawing is generated from engineering elements and refined, not manually drawn. |
|
Termination Template |
Specifies the use of an automatic template currently used for termination drawings and loop diagrams. The drawing is generated from engineering elements and refined, not manually drawn. |
Item Type
Use the drop down list to define the item types available for use on the drawing.

Engineering |
Specifies engineering items can be used on the drawing, this is the default option. |
|
Functional |
Specifies functional items can be used on the drawing. |
Disciplines
Displays the associated disciplines list for the drawing type. The associated disciplines list is populated with the name and description of each associated discipline.
Manage
Use the Select disciplines window to define the associated disciplines for the drawing type. Associated disciplines are displayed in the disciplines list.

The check box adjacent to the discipline name defines the disciplines that are associated with the drawing type.
If the check box is selected, the discipline is associated with the drawing type.
If the check box is not selected, the discipline is not associated with the drawing type.
The drawing type is created as a member element of the drawing type folder on the Setup Explorer.
Use the Attributes window to modify the display name, description, associated disciplines and purpose.
The read only Item Type field can be viewed using the Attributes window.
Default Symbols
Use the Default symbols part of the Attributes window to define the symbols associated with classes for a specific drawing type.

Class |
Specifies the class element. Use the Browse functionality to display the Select class window. |

Default |
Specifies the default symbol for the class. Only one default symbol can be specified for each class. |
|
Symbol |
Specifies the the symbol associated with the class. Use the Browse functionality to display the Select Symbol or connector window. |
|
Add |
Adds a row to the grid. |
|
Remove |
Removes the currently selected row from the grid. |
