You can create a component area by converting a continuation area.

To create a component area, follow these steps:

  1. Create a continuation area. See Continuation Area for more information.

  2. Define a column count that is a multiple of the required attribute count, plus one additional column for chemical component names.

  3. Select the continuation area.

  4. In the Properties pane, select the following:

    • Area Type > Area > Component

  5. Expand Behaviour and then specify a value in Number of Attributes.

Note: The first column is reserved for chemical component names and cannot be edited.

Example

The following example explains how a column is defined when creating a component area:

  • Number of attributes: 4

  • Number of selected columns: 9

  • Reserved chemical-name column: 1

  • Available columns: 8

  • Streams supported when two attributes are used per stream: 4
