Storage Rules

Use the storage rules and unreserve tags functionality to restrict access to databases and to unreserve partially reserved tags in the TMR database (both of these require administrative rights).

AVEVA Engineering allows project data to be stored in multiple databases. Project administrators can put access control on each database thus allowing/denying access to the database for project teams.

This allows project administrators to keep tight control on data segregation when a project has to be worked upon by various teams simultaneously. For an application to make use of this feature it needs some capability by which creation of element can be redirected to a given database in case a user has write access to multiple databases.

Storage rules are required to figure out the Engineering database where a tag will be created. These rules are based on the class model, or on conditions on class attributes.

Storage rule creation

From the Storage rules window, click to select the database from the list of available databases.

Use the functionality available from the Storage configuration rules window to add a new storage configuration rule. Storage rules can be based on a class without any conditions (these will be used in creating Admin elements, for example: Plant, System and so on) or the rules are based on a class and some conditions on class attributes.
