This section lists the Release Notes for each AVEVA Unified Learning 2026 release.

Expectations and limitations as part of previous AVEVA Unified Learning releases

This section lists the previous expectations and limitations you may encounter with AVEVA Unified Learning, up to the latest 2026 release.

  • Data persistence:

    • For AVEVA Operator Training Simulator (OTS) data persistence, the single file size maximum is 100 MB.

    • For AVEVA Dynamic Simulation (DYNSIM) user accounts, any custom user accounts that you create do not persist beyond a session. The default and persistent user account depends on the workflow. For instance, instructor for Instructor-led exercises, and admin for Primary OTS sessions.

    • If you are not seeing all of the content for your role in AVEVA Unified Learning (for example, you are an Instructor but cannot see Trainee grades), first sign out of your AVEVA Unified Learning account, and then sign back in. If you still think that you are not seeing the correct content, contact AVEVA Support.

  • From the Multiple OTS Human Machine Interface (HMI) applink, cloud sessions do not exist until you connect. After you connect, the applications (AVEVA InTouch HMI, FoxView, and DYNSIM) load, which results in a delay of a few seconds.

  • Currently, the region in which an OTS session is opened is chosen automatically, based on the lowest latency for the scheduling Instructor. For custom Foxboro systems, the region is fixed to the closest customer’s plant for all exercises. If Trainees are located in different regions from the Instructor, they may experience extra latency in the connection(s) to the OTS session.

  • For Administrators, when you add new users in the Add new users dialog, if you enter the same email address into the Instructors box and Trainees box, the system enrolls that person only as a Trainee.

  • If your browser is using a non-standard time zone format, then during Instructor-led OTS scheduling, the browser returns that format as a Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) by default. You must select the correct time zone in the dropdown list.

  • When you use multiple applinks on the AVEVA InTouch HMI 2020 R2 SP1 (version 20.1.100) application, the alarm acknowledgement between instances is not supported by default. You must implement a special configuration in the HMI application. Not all HMI applications support alarm acknowledgement synchronization.

  • For an Instructor-led training session that includes additional Instructors, if there is an exercise with a single applink to the Instructor station, then that applink must be shared with the additional Instructors.

  • When a user is added to a user group, a notification is sent to the Administrators and Instructors of that group, but not to the Trainees. Notifications are not sent to anyone when a user is removed from a user group.

  • If a Trainee is enrolled into the same course twice from two different curriculums, the same billing hours are displayed for those two curriculum records. This duplication occurs because there is currently not enough information to determine which curriculum the platform should be billing against. To avoid this situation, do not enroll a Trainee into the same course twice.

  • Due to the Moodle 4.5 upgrade, you may notice minor visual differences between what you see while using AVEVA Unified Learning and the images in the user documentation. However, all documented functionality remains unchanged.

2026.1

New features and enhancements

  • Change your Trainee session username: Trainees can now change their session username to help Instructors identify them during Instructor-led OTS training sessions and ensure accurate training records.

For more information, see Change your Trainee session username.

  • Moodle 4.5 upgrade: AVEVA Unified Learning was upgraded to Moodle 4.5 (underlying Learning Management System framework). This upgrade helps ensure continued security support and alignment with AVEVA Unified Learning's long-term Moodle roadmap.

Due to this upgrade, you may notice minor visual differences between what you see while using AVEVA Unified Learning and the images in the user documentation. However, all documented functionality remains unchanged.

  • New Boiler Drum Power Plant training course: AVEVA Unified Learning now offers the Boiler Drum Power Plant training course. A new aul-pct-037 CONNECT Credit transaction report resource code has been added to the course table in Understand the CONNECT Credit transaction report resource codes for your reference.

Removed features

AVEVA Unified Learning no longer supports Extended Reality (XR) activities. As a result, all XR-related content was removed from the AVEVA Unified Learning platform and the user documentation.

Resolved issues

Description

This defect fix addresses an issue where users that were removed from a curriculum were still shown as available to be assigned to that curriculum course's applinks and nodes during Instructor-led OTS training session scheduling.

Known issues

Description

In OTS training sessions, the screen displays the wrong resolution and the session is on an incorrect point in the screen.

This issue will be resolved in a future release. Try the following workarounds as we work to resolve this issue.

If you are using Google Chrome as your web browser

  1. In the OTS training session's remote access bar menu, select Options.

    The Options submenu appears.

  2. Select Full Screen.

The OTS session should now display in a full resolution.

If you are using Microsoft Edge as your web browser

  • Change your web browser to Google Chrome, and then do the previous procedure.

  • If you cannot use Google Chrome as your web browser, select anywhere on the OTS session screen, and then press F11.

This keyboard command is equivalent to the Full Screen option, which is not available in Microsoft Edge.

The OTS session should now display in a full resolution.

  • If you are running the OTS training session from a laptop and the screen resolution issue still appears after you press F11, change your display scale settings to 100% by doing the following:

    1. Navigate to your laptop's Windows Settings.

    2. Select System.

      The System window appears.

    3. On the Display section, in the Scale and layout subsection, change your screen scale settings to 100%.

The OTS training session should now display in a full resolution.

(Previously 4355534)

When you make changes to a primary OTS and then attempt to upload your saved changes with the Upload changes button, the learning platform may take an unusually long time to complete the upload process.

Improvements to the process will be implemented in a future release.

4355543

When you run a primary OTS session, you may see multiple instances of the Upload changes button appearing in the upper-left corner of the session banner.

This issue will be resolved in a future release. To avoid unexpected results, only interact with one instance of the Upload changes button.

Users assigned as Additional Instructors can edit an upcoming Instructor-led OTS training session, which is incorrect. The session owner should only have permission to make changes. The owner must first transfer ownership to the Additional Instructor before they can make changes to the session.

This issue will be resolved in a future release.
