Python startup error messages

During startup of any of the AVEVA Edge runtimes, the Python interface library, embedded Python runtime, and HMI extension module are loaded into memory. If any issues occur during the startup process, then one of the following messages will be displayed to the user as a popup message or logged to the error log. The runtime will start, but the Python Script Task will be disabled.

Invalid configuration

If this error is generated by AVEVA Edge Studio or SCADA, then it is probably because the parameter named PythonVersion is missing from the section named [PythonCommonComponent] in the Program Settings.ini file. The error may also occur if the Python Common Runtime is not installed or if the PythonVersion defined in the Program Settings.ini file does not correspond to a version supported by the Python Common Runtime. If this error is generated by AVEVA Edge, Embedded HMI, or IoT View, then it is probably because the Python Common Runtime library was not downloaded properly to the target using Remote Management. It could also be due to a broken installation of the Python Common Runtime on the Windows machine that was used to download the runtime files to the target.

Unable to load the Python interface library

If this error is generated by AVEVA Edge Studio or SCADA, then it is probably because of a broken installation of the Python Common Runtime.

If this error is generated by AVEVA Edge, Embedded HMI, or IoT View, then it is probably because the Python Common Runtime library was not downloaded properly to the target using Remote Management. It could also be due to a broken installation of the Python Common Runtime on the Windows machine that was used to download the runtime files to the target. This message is followed by an error code and diagnostic message that you can share with your software support provider.

Error initializing embedded Python runtime

Could not initialize the python interpreter for the Python Script Task. This message is followed by an error code and diagnostic message that you can share with your software support provider.

Could not load HMI extension module

If this error is generated by AVEVA Edge Studio or SCADA, then it is probably because of a broken installation of AVEVA Edge.
