Force an archive shift by using piartool

You can use the piartool command to force an archive shift. You might force an archive shift to test your system or to do advance archive management. However, do not force an archive shift during normal operations.

  1. At a command prompt, go to the PI\adm directory

  2. Type the following command:

    piartool -fs

For systems with large point counts, archive shifts might require a several minutes. Do not shut down the Data Archive server until the shift has completed. To determine when this has occurred, check the message log for message 2063 in the above output.
