Use the piarcreate utility to create archive files. Run the piarcreateutility from the ..\PI\adm directory.

The piarcreate utility is a stand-alone utility that works on any computer, not just Data Archive computers; the piarcreate utility does not require AVEVA™ PI System™ components (for example, PI SDK, PI API, pinetmgr, or any Data Archive subsystems) in order to run.

Note: For common archive management tasks, use the Manage offline archive files using piarchss utility.

The following table lists the options for the piarcreate utility.

Create a new fixed archive.

  • path is the name of the archive file.

  • size is the size of the archive in Mb.

-d path  maxpoints  maxsize 

Dynamic archive

Create a new dynamic archive.

  • path is the name of the archive file.

  • maxpoints is the maximum number of points the archive can contain.

  • maxsize is the maximum size of the archive file in Mb.

Version

Get version and build information.
