AuditViewer restrictions

Because PI AuditViewer can change auditing status and control the execution of AVEVA™ PI System™ processes, certain restrictions are in place:

• PI AuditViewer must run on the same computer as the Data Archive server.

• The user must be a member of the Windows Administrator User Group.

• For Data Archive version 3.4.380 and later, the user must have read access to the PIAUDIT entry in the PI DBSecurity table, and read and write access to the PITUNING entry (in PI SMT via the Database Security tool). For earlier versions of Data Archive, the user must log on as the piadmin user and have read and write access to the DBSECURITY entry.

  These permissions are required because PI AuditViewer must change the value of the EnableAudit tuning parameter from 0 to -1 to enable auditing (auditing is disabled by default).

• The user also requires read access on the PIPOINTS database in database security, and read access on the tag for which the value was modified.

  Note: Earlier versions of PI AuditViewer are not compatible with Data Archive version 3.4.370 and later.
