You can use PI AuditViewer to view and create audit archives of audit database files that are offline. Offline files are those that are not currently collecting audit data records.
PI Audit database records are stored in three distinct files, each representing a specific PI Subsystem:
-
Base Subsystem: pibasessAudit.dat
-
Archive Subsystem: piarchssAudit.dat
-
Snapshot Subsystem: pisnapssAudit.dat
A PI Audit archive is a set of these three PI Audit database files, and is treated as a unit when you search or view PI Audit database records.
To see the audit archives and the PI Audit Subsystem files:
Click the Manage link on the Manage panel to open the PI Audit Management Pane window.
-
Click an Archive node in the Audit Archives tree to view information on the selected PI Audit archive.
-
Click the Root node in the tree to view information on all PI Audit archives.
-
Click Archive 0 to view the online PI Audit database files.
Note: The three PI Audit database files that are currently open and accepting audit data are called online audit files. Other audit files that contain historical audit data are offline. When PI AuditViewer starts for the first time, the program automatically adds the online audit files to the PI Audit archive Archive 0.
