Launch backups with the piartool utility

You can use the piartool -backup command to start an incremental, differential, or full backup. The incremental, differential and full backups all result in a consistent set of database files that can be used for disaster recovery. Typically, for your regular, nightly backups, you should only need to do incremental backups.

  1. At a command prompt, go to the PI\adm directory.

  2. Type the following command:

    piartool -backup path -type Type Options

    where path is the full path to the backup directory. Valid entries for Type include:

    • INCREMENTAL

    • DIFFERENTIAL

    • FULL
