Auditing is disabled by default. PI AuditViewer changes the value of the EnableAudit tuning parameter from 0 to -1 to enable auditing.
For Data Archive versions 3.4.380 and later, you need read and write access to the PITUNING entry in the Database Security tool in PI SMT (Security > Database Security). For earlier versions of Data Archive, you need read and write access to the DBSECURITY entry.
To start PI AuditViewer, click Start > All Programs > PI System > PI AuditViewer.
If auditing is disabled, a window opens saying:
"Auditing has not been enabled for 'All PI Databases'.
Do you want to enable PIAudit?
NOTE: IF 'Yes', PIBASESS, PISNAPSS, and PIARCHSS will be restarted ".
Disable auditing
To disable auditing, use PI SMT to set the EnableAudit tuning parameter to its default value of 0.
You must restart the Base, Archive, and Snapshot Subsystems for changes to take effect.
Note: You can enable or disable auditing for individual subsystems or databases by specifying a different value for EnableAudit. For details, see EnableAudit tuning parameter.
