Understand PI Data Archive database files

  • Last UpdatedApr 11, 2025

Data Archive includes several databases and files that store configuration information and time-series data. The main Data Archive databases are the PI point database and the time-series database, which provides access to PI archive files. Other parts of the system, including the PI Batch Database and the PI Module Database, support these components. The security database contains settings about client authentication and high-level database access. The Data Archive data files are located in the PI\dat directory. Archives are usually in a separate directory.

Note: Contact the Customer Portal if you need to diagnose or repair any of these database files.
