When you connect a cable/multi-cable to an equipment/sub-equipment then an electrical connection between the connected elements is automatically added. An automatically created electrical connection will be attached to the equipment/sub-equipment via a connection point, unless Add to group is possible. Please note that adding to group will be possible only when shapes that are representing an equipment/sub-equipment and the electrical connection has been properly defined:
-
Equipment/sub-equipment must be a group
-
Equipment/sub-equipment must accept dropped shapes
-
Electrical connection must have Add shape to groups on drop option set to True.
-
The box with the electrical connection shape must be inside the equipment/sub-equipment.
In both cases the electrical connection shape will be automatically added and SCELCON will be created in the database under the proper element. A connection between the cable/multi-cable and the electrical connection is then established.

Attach via connection point

Add to group
The following picture shows the electrical connection attached via a connection point because its box extends beyond the equipment shape border.

An electrical connection will also be added when you connect a cable/multi-cable to a nested symbol. In this case, the nested symbol will be replaced by an electrical connection symbol.
