Alarm latching is enabled or disabled on a Galaxy-wide basis. The default is disabled.

To enable alarm latching for the Galaxy, select Galaxy from the menu bar to open the backstage and then select the Galaxy tab. From the Galaxy tab, select Alarms and events, and then select States.

  • To enable alarm latching for the Galaxy, set the checkmark for Enable latching.

  • The alarm latching state is not present in the Galaxy if the checkbox is not enabled.

    Alarm states: Enable latching

When alarm latching is enabled for the Galaxy, a fourth alarm state called LATCHED is created. A latched alarm is one that has LATCHED status. The latched alarm remains visible at run time until an operator explicitly issues a "Dismiss" command.
