Introduction

The purpose of this document is to explain System Platform IDE extensibility features and help Development, QA and OEM partners develop extensions that can integrate seamlessly with the IDE by providing:

• The contract IDE extensions should follow for seamless integration with the IDE.

• Services provided by IDE to facilitate extension development.

• Pointers to example extensions with and without user interface.

• Instructions on how to test and install IDE extensions.

• Information on how to leverage IDE extensibility features to develop an IDE extension.

• Tips to avoid making common mistakes when developing IDE extensions.

It is assumed that the reader of this document is familiar with the basic features of ArchestrA from configuration viewpoint, and has good working knowledge of Microsoft .Net programming, especially C# language.
