Application Server 2023 R2 SP1 includes a number of new features, hot fixes, and provides support for the latest versions of Microsoft products. Refer to the GCS Technology Matrix for the list of supported Microsoft products.

Improved OMI web client

The web client for use with OMI ViewApps has been enhanced to eliminate many of the limitations that existed previously, and provide better alignment with the native behavior of desktop ViewApps.

OMI web client supported as Progressive Web Application

The OMI web client supports being saved as a Progressive Web Application (PWA). When an OMI web client PWA is launched, it displays a landing page listing all the deployed ViewApps. For an OMI web client PWA to work, the machine with the deployed WebViewEngine must be reachable.

OMI web client security enhancements

The system supports OS-user-based and OS-group-based security in the OMI web client. This includes support for the following MyViewApp namespace security attributes:

  • MyViewApp.LoggedInUserName (User Logon)

  • MyViewApp.LoggedInUserRoles (User Logon Roles)

  • MyViewApp.LoggedInAccessLevel (Access Level)

AlarmApp enhancements

The OMI AlarmApp has new columns available for alarm messages and ack messages. A new option has also been added to apply color or to blink an entire row, or just a single column.

HistoricalTrendApp enhancement

Follow Current Context now works for the HistoricalTrendApp.

Application Server instance name length

The maximum number of characters allowed for Application Server instances has been increased from 32 to 128.

  • Note that only instance names support 128 characters. Template object names continue to support a maximum length of 32 characters.

  • Graphics, Layouts, Screen Profiles, ViewAppNamespaces, ViewApps, InTouch ViewApps, and ViewEngines continue to support a maximum length of 32 characters.

Change Network Account utility

To simplify IT security tasks for multi-node systems, the Change Network Account utility, also known as .AdminUser Change Utility, lets you paste a plain text password into the utility. Copying the password from the utility remains prohibited.
