Alarm states

An alarms will have a particular status (state) that can be reported by an object for which alarming has been enabled, depending on both user actions and the reported attribute value. An attribute value that is not within normal preset parameters is reported as an alarm. Note that an alarm state (the status of the alarm) is not the same as a state alarm. See Configure state alarms for additional information.

The Latched alarm state only exists if it has been enabled for the Galaxy. See Alarm latching for additional information.

The alarm states are:

  • Normal (no alarm)

  • Active (Unack/Alarm, usually displayed as UNACK)

  • Acknowledged (Ack/Alarm, usually displayed as ACK)

  • Unacknowledged/Return to Normal (Unack/RTN, usually displayed as UNACK_RTN)

  • Acknowledged and returned to normal (Ack/RTN, usually displayed as ACK_RTN)

  • LATCHED (optional)

A latched alarm is one that has both returned to normal and has been acknowledged by an operator (LATCHED state). It will continue to be shown by the alarm client, for example, the InTouch Embedded Alarm Client or the OMI Alarm App, until an operator issues a Dismiss command.
