Use an existing local machine or network domain account

You can use the Change Network Account utility to change the System Platform communication user account. If you select Cancel before saving your user account changes, the current user account remains in effect.
The Change Network Account utility reboots the computer after changing user accounts. You should close all open applications on the computer before changing user accounts.
Important: We recommend that you do not use a domain account whose password expires periodically or can be changed. Using an account with an expiring password is permissable. But, System Platform node-to-node communication stops if the password expires. If that occurs, then you must use the Change Network Account Utility to update the account data on each computer to re-establish communications.
To use a local machine or network domain account on your computer
-
Clear the Create Local Account check box. The Domain or Local Machine Name box becomes available.
-
In the Domain or Local Machine Name box, type a valid network domain name or select the local machine name from the list. If you do not know the valid network domain name, ask your network administrator.
-
In the User Name and Password boxes, type valid data for the selected user account.
Note: You can paste into the Password and Confirm Password fields but, for security reasons, you cannot copy from them to the clipboard.
-
In the Confirm Password box, retype the password.
-
Select OK to use the selected user account.
The utility verifies the existence of the user account you typed and prompts you if any adverse conditions require your attention. Respond appropriately.
A confirmation dialog box appears and you are prompted to restart your computer. This is a requirement. Close all open applications, if necessary.
-
Select OK to reboot the computer.
