Configure IIS in Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.

  1. Verify that IIS and ASP.NET are installed.

    • In Windows Vista and Windows 8, click Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features.

    • In Windows 7, click Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.

    1. Click Turn Windows features on or off.

    2. In the Windows Features window, navigate to Internet Information Services > Web Management Tools and ensure that the IIS Management Console check box is selected.

    3. Navigate to Internet Information Services > World Wide Web Services > Application Development Features. If the default settings were used during the IIS installation, ASP.NET might not have been installed. Select the ASP.NET check box (ASP.NET 3.5 in Windows 8), and verify that appropriate Security settings are installed (such as Windows Authentication). Press the OK button to install.

  2. As Administrator, open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.

    • In Windows Vista and Windows 8, click Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools.

    • In Windows 7, click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools.

  3. If the PI Manual Logger Web Services Web Application was not created for you during the installation process, follow these steps.

    1. Click Web Sites > Default Web Site.

    2. Right-click Default Web Site and click New > Add Application, or Add Application in Windows 7 and Windows 8.

    3. Provide the information for adding a Web Application, such as an alias (for example, PimlWebServices), the physical path to the installation folder, and the Application Pool.

    4. After the Web Application creation is complete, select the PI Manual Logger Web Services, for example, PimlWebServices, to view the different configuration areas.

  4. Verify the settings for the PimlWebServices Application. Take special note of the Authentication and Handler Mappings areas.

  5. Open the Application Pools, select the Application Pool that is associated with PI Manual Logger Web Services, and configure the settings appropriately for your environment. OSIsoft recommends that you refer to the Microsoft IIS documentation.

Note: The .NET Framework version must be 2.0. For 64-bit operating systems, PI Manual Logger Web Services must be configured as a 32-bit application.

If you need to change the Application Pool associated with PI Manual Logger Web Services, right-click PimlWebServices and select Manage Application > Advanced Settings.
