Configure global options

As a member of the PI Manual Logger administrative user group, you need to configure the options that affect all PI Manual Logger user sessions.

  1. In PI Manual Logger, select Tools > Global Options.

  2. In Number of PI Tag Values to Cache (per tag) on the General tab, specify the number of tag values that PI Manual Logger caches.

  3. If your company has several PI Manual Logger users saving data to the database, OSIsoft recommends that you select the Enable SQL Server Snapshot Isolation Level for better performance during simultaneous multi-user transactions check box. This facilitates read operations as they occur during a write operation to the database. Otherwise, delays can occur due to multiple write transactions.

  4. Click the Message Logging tab and select the types of message log that you need to have PI Manual Logger audit. For more information on message log entry types, refer to PI Manual Logger audits.

  5. Click the Security Settings tab and perform the following actions:

    1. From Admin User Group, select the PI Manual Logger user group that has administrative privileges in PI Manual Logger.

Note: If you are a member of the current Admin User Group and you change the administrative user group to a group you do not belong to, you can no longer access the Global Options window.

    1. PI Manual Logger defaults to allowing only administrative users to delete PI data in PI Manual Logger. To enable all users to delete PI data in PI Manual Logger, clear the Only Admin users can delete data from PI checkbox.

  6. Click OK to save your global options settings.
