OSIsoft recommends that you enable Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for your PI Manual Logger website to encrypt your communications over HTTPS. This is required by most mobile clients and for offline support with all browsers other than Microsoft Internet Explorer 11.
To fully secure access to PI Manual Logger, use a digital certificate obtained from a trusted third- party registrar or from your enterprise's private certificate authority. Although the installation program can create a self-signed certificate, you should only use that option if the PI Manual Logger website will not be secured using SSL.
